President - Sahar Rezazadeh

Sahar is a third year student of Political Science. She takes an intimate interest in British, American and Middle Eastern politics partly influenced by her nationality, ideology and roots, respectively. Sahar makes a great team member and leader as she has had a plethora of experience from leading in the classroom to playing her part in the Transport Steering Group. Sahar’s vision for BUCF can be found here and it is testament to her motto: “Everything can start at grass roots”. She would like to ensure that BUCF engage closely with the local community. Known in the blogosphere as Sassy Conservative, she likes to offer a new approach to the political in order to provoke interest and further enhance our great democracy. Finally, Sahar firmly believes in the words of Margaret Mead to "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
Vice President - Daniel Cole Dan is a second year, Political Science and International Relations student, currently studying here at the University of Birmingham. Always interested in politics, Dan has been active in the BUCF for most of his time at Uni. Beginning with a victory for his Conservative party in school mock elections, Dan has managed to campaign at numerous hustings and local and national elections, and even worked in parliament with a London MP for six months. Though slightly euro-sceptic politically, Dan is greatly interested in the study of European and American policy. As Vice President, Dan hopes to lead the BUCF to lofty heights in terms of recognition, and strongly believes in the creation of an ever-greater membership base, “one that we as Conservatives, deserve.” He is very interested in all things military; hoping to enter RMA Sandhurst after his time at Birmingham, and loves his rugby.
Events Officer - Adam Jenner

Adam is a second year undergraduate studying Media, Culture and Society. Growing up in London, Adam joined the society in 2007 and looks forward to organising lots of both interesting and enjoyable events. Ideologically a libertarian he takes a keen interest in international affairs. He can usually be found in one of Birmingham’s drinking establishments.
Treasurer - Alasdair Johnstone
Alasdair is studying Political Science and Social Policy, a course which, typically, would have predominantly leftward thinking people interested. Nonetheless, Alasdair is an ardent believer in free market economics and is attracted by the economic values of the Conservative party. His greatest fear is that if we are to see a Labour Government in power for much longer, we could see a return to an overly socialist system of economic management. But equally he believes in debate over all ideals and has a lot of time for ‘parliamentarians’ above those who simply tread a party line. He hopes to fulfil his role as treasurer to the highest of standards.
Events Coordinator - Mark Harrop
Mark is the token 'Northerner' of the committee coming from a blue area of the Ribble Valley and Fulwood constituency. Mark has thrown himself into university life studing European Politics, Society and Economics BSc. taking a particular interest in foreign policy and comparative economic policy. Mark has worked with his local MP, Nigel Evans for a number of weeks and hopes to go further with the party. Mark bases his ideas on the ideology of 'work hard for what you want and keep your priorities rooted firmly in what you believe'. In the meantime Mark holds the Presidency of his hall and his course society as well as his position on the BUCF to keep him busy, but looks forward to the coming year.
Blog Editor - Alex Yaffe

Alex has always wanted to edit blogs. A self-confessed geek, he has found his utopia. He studies Computer Science at the University of Birmingham and has been a member of BUCF since joining the University. Growing up in London, Alex saw politics evolve but only made the step to become part of it in Birmingham - its strong Conservative Future sparking his interest. With the coming year perhaps to be one of the most fascinating politically he looks forward to the Committee's involvement at such an important time. Outside of his degree, he enjoys skiing, piano playing and (naturally) weblogs.
General Election Officer - Sophie Shrubsole
Sophie has always been a politically minded woman, discovering her leanings in secondary school in Kent, after being encouraged to hold strong views and principles. Her traditional approach to life, and right wing nature led her naturally to the Conservative Party, with Margaret Thatcher being one of the key figures drawing her to the blue side of politics. Sophie is studying History, and is passionately interested in the field of the First World War. As well as a mixture of academic interests, Sophie is also a keen follower of all sports, particularly football, and her beloved South London club...
Recruitment Officer - Tim Hasker

Currently in his second year of studying History and Political Science, Tim, sees Politics as a noble pursuit which everyone should take interest in. This is because one cannot complain or change something which they first don't understand. Despite a traditional Labour background Tim's strong belief in social mobility and meritocracy has driven him towards the Conservative Party. Working in the past for both Northampton Borough Council and members of David Cameron's staff Tim takes Conservative Politics extremely important and future participation in Politics is one of his main priorities. The Political figure which has influenced Tim's political beliefs fundamentally was Prime Minister Sir Robert Peel, his philosophy of “Country first and Party second” is the guiding principle in Tim's interest in Politics.
